Dr Michele Allan AO, the independent reviewer of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity (IGAB) has developed a discussion paper for public consultation and now seeks feedback from Australian biosecurity stakeholders on potential improvements to the IGAB.
The public consultation is being hosted on the department's Have your say consultation hub and opened on Thursday 15 August 2024 for 5 weeks until Thursday 19 September 2024. Input is being sought from a range of participants in the national biosecurity system. The consultation extends to governments, industries (including agricultural and environmental), and community members.
Throughout this review, additional targeted consultation may occur consisting of discussion sessions with key stakeholders and other interested parties, either in person or online.
Dr Allan’s response to the consultations and submissions will be consolidated into a final report and a set of recommendations will be released to agriculture ministers for their consideration by 22 January 2025.
To share your ideas for improving the IGAB, please visit the review’s Have your say webpage for more detailed information on how to provide feedback and make a submission.
