Fish 13/07 - Certification for seafood exported to Russia

Date of Issue: 27 May 2013

Date of Effect: Immediate

Affected Markets: Russia

Further to MAA12/06, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) provides the following update regarding certification of seafood to Russia.

DAFF recently received advice from Rosselkhoznadzor that the manual certificate currently used for the export of live fish and fishery products to Russia can only be used for live fish exports.

Rosselkhoznadzor advised that non-live fish and fish products must now be exported on a new electronic certificate.  DAFF was negotiating this certificate in 2007 but until now, Rosselkhoznadzor had not provided formal recognition of the certificate.

Details about new certification are as follows:

Live fish

For live fish exports use the manual only certificate titled “Veterinary certificate for live fish and fish product exported into the Russian Federation.”

Non viable fish and fish products

For non viable fish and fish products use the FXRU01 certificate. Please note this certificate is only available manually at this stage and can be obtained through DAFF regional offices.

A new Market Access Advice will be issued when this certificate becomes available electronically through EXDOC.

Please contact DAFF Exports if you have any queries.
