2015-10 - Horticulture Exports Program – Cessation of certification for mixed fresh fruit consignments undergoing in-transit cold disinfestation to Thailand

16 February 2015

To advise industry that, the Department of Agriculture is unable to issue certification of mixed fresh fruit exports undergoing in-transit cold disinfestation treatment (ITCT) to Thailand.

Over that past week mixed consignments Subject to ITCT destined for Thailand have been detained on arrival by Thailand Department of Agriculture (DoA) inspectors.

The department recently has been advised that Thailand DoA will no longer accept mixed consignments of fresh fruit from Australia.

Key Points

Thailand DoA will not accept mixed consignments that have been subject to ITCT.

This decision will not impact consignments that contain only one type of fruit or those not undergoing ITCT.

Clearance for consignments currently in-transit to Thailand will be discussed with Thailand DoA on a case by case basis.

The department will continue discussions with Thailand DoA to seek clarification of the requirements relating to mixed consignments.
