2016-24 - Authorised Officer Program – Release of remaining horticulture protocol job functions

Purpose

To advise that the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has released the remaining protocol job functions for the inspection of berries, stone fruit (other than cherries), tropical fruit, curcubits and chillies, and root vegetables to protocol markets.

Key points

  • The job functions listed in the table below will enable external authorised officers to be appointed to inspect fresh fruit and vegetables to the countries listed in Reference: Table of horticulture protocol markets.
  • External authorised officers will be required to apply to the department to be trained and competency assessed in the below protocol job functions.  See below for information on how to apply.
  • Mandatory pre-requisite competency exists for all inspection authorised officers who wish to become appointed in any of the below protocol job functions.

HEP4001:5B Export inspection horticulture protocol - Other stone fruit HOR3002:5 Export inspection of fruit and vegetables - Group 5 - Stone, pome and tropical fruit.
HEP4001:5D Export inspection horticulture protocol - Tropical fruit HOR3002:5 Export inspection of fruit and vegetables - Group 5 - Stone, pome and tropical fruit.
HEP4001:6 Export inspection horticulture protocol - Curcubit and chilli HOR3002:6 Export inspection of fruit and vegetables - Group 6 - Curcubit and chilli
HEP4001:8 Export inspection horticulture protocol - Root vegetable HOR3002:8 Export inspection of fruit and vegetables - Group 8 - Root vegetable
OR
HOR3003:1 Export inspection of bulbs, corms and tubers

How to apply

To apply for the protocol job function:

  • existing external authorised officers will need to complete and return an AO change of job function/s form for the protocol job function e.g. HEP4001:4
  • new external authorised officers will need to complete and return an AO application form covering both the mandatory pre-requisite job function and the protocol job function e.g. HOR3002:4 and HEP4001:4

Training and Competency Assessments

Facilitated training with a Department of Agriculture and Water Resources Plant Export Assessor is mandatory before assessment for competency for any of the protocol job functions can be undertaken.

Appropriate training and assessment forms will be provided to individuals once their AO change of job function/s form or AO application form is received.
