2016-40 - Plant Export Operations – Annual Establishment Registration Process for the 2016-17 Financial Year

28 June 2016

Purpose

To advise establishment occupiers of the annual establishment registration process for the 2016-17 financial year.

Background

The department is commencing the annual establishment registration process for the 2016‑17 financial year.

Existing establishment occupiers will shortly receive a letter requesting registration nomination as a Complex, Simple or Small Grower Exporter.  An overview of the annual charge for Plant Export Registered Establishments is available under the ‘Annual charge for registered establishments’ section of the department’s charging guidelines, which are available at: Charging guidelines

Responses from establishment occupiers will be due four weeks from issuance.  Failure to respond within the timeframe may result in suspension of registration.

All overdue debt relating to prior year establishment registration is required to be paid or arrangements put in place before a 2016-17 registration will be processed.

Once registration is complete, only changes to a higher registration level will be accepted. For example, from a ‘simple’ to a ‘complex’ establishment.

Throughout 2016-17, the department will also be checking export activity at establishments to ensure that activity matches the registration type.  For example, protocol exports from a complex establishment.  Establishments will be invoiced at the relevant higher rate where a misalignment is identified.

Summary of changes and key points

  • The annual plant export establishment registration process will commence shortly.
  • Occupiers will be sent a letter requesting registration confirmation within a four week timeframe.
  • All overdue debt relating to prior year establishment registration is required to be paid or arrangements before a 2016-17 registration will be processed.
  • Once registration is complete, only changes to a higher registration level will be accepted.
  • The department will be checking export activity at establishments to ensure that activity matches the registration type.
