2016-48 - Authorised officer programme - Release of public register of authorised officers

5 August 2016

Purpose

To advise that the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources public register of plant exports authorised officers (AOs) is now available on the department’s website.

Background

On 30 June 2014, the Wheat Industry Advisory Taskforce released their report titled An inquiry into wheat export quality management practices. The Minister accepted the recommendations made by the report, one of which was that all grain industry AOs should be listed on a public register.

The Plant Export Operations branch has expanded this public register to include both horticulture and grain industry AOs.

The public register of plant exports authorised officers has now been released and can be found on the department’s website.

Summary of changes and key points

  • The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has released the public register of plant exports authorised officers.
  • The register can be found at Public register of Australian plant export authorised officers
  • The register will be updated regularly as AOs consent to having their details made available publicly, or choose to no longer have their details made available publicly.

Authorised officer responsibilities

Those plant exports authorised officers who consented to having their details made public should:

  1. Check that their details appear on the register. If their details do not appear on the register, submit a completed AO personal details consent form to consent to their details being made public.
  2. Check their details on the register are correct. If their details are not correct, submit a completed AO update details form to advise of required changes.
  3. If they no longer wish to have their details appear on the register, submit a completed AO personal details consent form to advise of that.

Those plant exports authorised officers who previously did not consent to having their details made public can still have their details added to the register by submitting a completed AO personal details consent form which can be found at Public register of Australian plant export authorised officers.
