2016-49 - Horticulture Exports Program - Applications for export approval of Tasmanian apple and pear orchards, packhouses, cold stores and fumigation facilities

11 August 2016

Purpose

All Tasmanian orchards, packhouses, cold stores and fumigation facilities intending to export apples to China, Japan, Taiwan or Thailand, or orchards and packhouses intending to export pears to Thailand, in 2017 must submit an export application form by Wednesday 31 August 2016.

Background

The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources can only approve an entity for export if all protocol requirements are met. Entities will be audited before being approved for export. All costs associated with audit are the responsibility of industry.

For specific market requirements refer to the relevant workplan and protocol on the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICoR) Plants website. To access these documents, you must be a registered MICoR Plant user.

Each relevant export entity must submit an application form (attached). Forms must be completed and returned by Wednesday 31 August 2016 to Fruit Growers Tasmania Inc.:

E: admin@fruitgrowerstas.com.au
P: (03) 6231 1944
F: (03) 6231 1929

Applications for export approval of mainland apple and pear orchards and packhouses will be sought later this year.

Should you have any further enquiries, please contact the Horticulture Exports Program by phone (02) 6272 4743 or by email Horticulture Exports Program ACT.
