2019-06 - Horticulture Exports Program – Export pathways for horticulture produce to the People’s Republic of China
25 January 2019
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that some export pathways for protocol horticulture produce to the People’s Republic of China are no longer available.
Summary of changes and key points
- The People’s Republic of China has reviewed the import arrangements for Australian produce agreed in 2017 and advised that some export pathways are no longer available.
- This has resulted in a change in import requirements and is not a suspension of trade.
- Industry are advised to continue to check the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICoR) to confirm the alternative export pathways.
- The department understands the impact this could have on industry and is continuing to engage with Chinese authorities to have the matter resolved as a priority.
In November 2017, the People’s Republic of China released new protocol agreements for various horticulture commodities. Protocols are available on MICoR. To access these documents, you must be a registered MICoR Plants user.
If you have any questions regarding this IAN please email the Horticulture Exports Program.
