Registration of all Establishments where Prescribed Goods are inspected for Export
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) reiterates and updates the previous IAN 2005/14 concerning registration of establishments where prescribed good are inspected for export, in accordance with the Export Control (Plants and Plant Products) Orders 2005.
Background
Since 01 July 2005 it has been a requirement under legislation that all premises where prescribed goods are inspected for export, be registered. Registration of establishments was supported by industry stakeholders with consensus that the registration of establishments would ensure a more consistent standard of hygiene and pest management throughout Australia.
Requirements
- Prescribed goods must be prepared and presented for inspection in a registered establishment.
- The occupier of a registered establishment must not carry out an export operation (i.e. prepare goods for export) for which the establishment is not registered.
- If you are not appropriately registered, please contact your local Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) office to request an application form to register an establishment, or to register for additional operations not covered by your existing registration. A registration fee will apply.
- It is advised that establishments display their certificate of registration on a wall or in a prominent position in their office / reception area.
