Purpose

This notice provides updated information on changes to import requirements for bivalve molluscs and bivalve mollusc products.

Who does this notice affect?

All clients attempting to contact the department or anticipating outcomes of biosecurity assessments.

Information

The department’s network has been impacted by the outage affecting the Optus mobile and fixed networks. The outage is ongoing but services are gradually being restored.

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to international vessel masters, shipping agents and importers of timber and timber products.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) will commence its annual heightened surveillance regime for managing the risks posed by Burnt Pine Longicorn (BPL) beetles (Arhopalus ferus) on vessels departing from New Zealand from 00:01 hours (NZST) on Wednesday 8 November 2023.

Who does this notice affect?

All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) during this planned outage.

Information

To support system maintenance, BICON will be unavailable from 23:00 Saturday 11 November to 03:00 Sunday 12 November 2023 (AEDT).

Action

Clients are advised to complete and submit any in-progress import permit applications prior to the commencement of this planned outage period.
