Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period (e.g. clients required to use the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS)).

Information

Due to scheduled system maintenance, there will be a scheduled outage to COLS from 23:00 Thursday 30 October to 02:00 Friday 31 October 2025 (AEDT). COLS users will be unable to access this service for the duration of the outage window.

National Institute for Forest Products Innovation

 

The National Institute for Forest Products Innovation (NIFPI) was established as an Australian Government initiative in 2018. NIFPI intended to advance research and innovation in the forest and wood products industries addressing issues proposed by industry.

Regional NIFPI centres were established in South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria, with financial support from the Australian Government and the respective state governments, and project specific contributions from industry.

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All users of the Cargo Online Lodgement System Business to Government (COLSB2G) system during this planned maintenance period. All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System (PEBS) during this planned maintenance period.

Scaling Success Program

The Australian Government has committed $27 million for the Scaling Success Program.

The Program opened for applications on 17 October and closed on 04 December 2025 at 9:00pm (AEDT).

The program will make available grants of between $100,000 and $3 million (GST exclusive) to enable selected FDF projects to have impact beyond their initial scope, and will target improved drought and climate resilience for the public good of the Australian agriculture sector, landscapes, and communities as a primary focus. It will fund projects that have proven their ability to:

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who are required to book and manage requests for inspections through the Biosecurity Portal.

Detail:

The unplanned service disruption to the Biosecurity Portal has been resolved. As a result, users can now lodge inspection booking requests via both login pathways of the Biosecurity Portal as normal.
