All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled infrastructure maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 16:00 to 23:59 Sunday 23 July 2023 (AEST).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

147-2023: Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Information Sessions

Who does this notice affect?

Offshore brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) treatment providers, particularly in Europe and North America.

Other stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including master consolidators, vessel masters, freight forwarders, biosecurity industry participants, importers, customs brokers and principal agents — associated with shipping or importing goods that require increased intervention during the 2023–24 BMSB risk season.

2023-43: Horticulture – End of winter window pathway (1 May to 1 September 2023) for cucurbit exports to New Zealand

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry of the upcoming closure of the 2023 winter window arrangements for the export of cucurbits to New Zealand and the registration and accreditation requirements for continuing exports of cucurbits after 1 September 2023.

Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Livestock at Processing Facilities and Establishments

AWTG 03-23 noted an update from Queensland that drafting of the new standards and guidelines continues. An informal initial consultation phase with targeted stakeholders on the drafting is being planned, after which the drafting will be subject to public consultation impact assessment.
