The webinar will provide information to Biosecurity Stakeholders about the recent announcements at Budget relating to sustainable funding of biosecurity.

The Australian Government is delivering on its commitment to develop long-term sustainable funding to strengthen Australia’s biosecurity system.

122-2023: Key dates and information for the 2023-24 Continued Biosecurity Competency period

Who does this notice affect?

Biosecurity industry participants and accredited persons operating under the department’s Class 19.1 non-commodity for containerised cargo clearance (NCCC) & Class 19.2 automatic entry processing for commodities (AEPCOMM) approved arrangements; Continued Biosecurity Competency (CBC) providers and registered training organisations (RTOs).

Other infringement notices

Biosecurity enforcement officers have the powers and ability to issue all 55 of the infringement notices under the Infringement Notice Scheme (INS). They can issue infringement notices to importers and import industry participants across all import pathways. They can also issue infringement notices to manage biosecurity risks relating to ships and aircraft and biosecurity risks onshore.

A list of the 55 infringement notices that can be issued by biosecurity enforcement officers for contraventions of the Biosecurity Act 2015 are set out in the table below.

116-2023: Implementation of Unaccompanied Personal Effects (UPE) process improvements

Who does this notice affect?

All brokers, commercial operators and private importers who lodge a UPE statement (B534 or B615) into the Australian Border Force (ABF) Integrated Cargo System (ICS) or in person to ABF (for private importers).

What has changed?

Through collaboration with the ABF, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is implementing enhancements to improve the UPE process.
