Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries — including importers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, vessel masters, biosecurity industry participants and shipping agents.

What has changed?

Purpose

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) is proposing changes to fees and charges for biosecurity regulatory activity in 2023-24.

Who does this notice affect?

All clients attempting to submit permit applications and access invoices using the Department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) during this planned outage.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned outage.

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned outage.

70-2023: Scheduled Outage: Saturday 01 April 2023 – Biosecurity Portal

Who does this notice affect?

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who will be required to book and manage requests for import inspections using the Biosecurity Portal during this planned outage.

Information

Due to scheduled system maintenance, the Biosecurity Portal will be unavailable from 20:00 to 23:00 Saturday 01 April 2023 (AEDT).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

69-2023: Scheduled Outage: Thursday 30 March to Friday 31 March 2023 – MARS

Who does this notice affect?

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled maintenance, the Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System (MARS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Thursday 30 March to 02:00 Friday 31 March 2023 (AEDT).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Livestock at Processing Facilities and Establishments

AWTG 01-23 noted an update from Queensland that the 11th and final meeting of the independently facilitated stakeholder group (SAG) was held in December, concluding the SAG’s involvement in this stage of the project. Drafting of the Standards will continue in 2023.
