171-2022: Updates to the Goods Determination to take effect 7 September 2022

Who does this notice affect?

Amendments to the Biosecurity (Conditionally Non-Prohibited Goods) Determination 2021 have been made as part of Australia’s response to Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).

If you intend to import personal consignments (10kg limit, unless otherwise specified) of the meat products listed below, into Australian territory, you must comply with the new import requirements.

This notice does not affect commercial import conditions.

This notice does not affect import permit holders.

BMSB Safeguarding Arrangement Scheme application form

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry offers the Safeguarding Arrangement Scheme as an alternative clearance pathway for Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) targeted goods shipped from target risk countries, in hard six -sided containers during the BMSB risk season, 1 September to 30 April.

Applications are open for submission annually between 28 July and 30 January.

Note: Application renewal is not automatically granted, applicants must submit a new application each year.

165-2022: Biosecurity Status Document (BSD) Conditions for Vessel Pratique

Who does this notice affect?

All vessel owners, operators, master’s, and shipping agents who represent international commercial vessels, including cruise vessels for the purposes of Australian biosecurity clearance.

What has changed?

The conditions on the Pratique section of the Biosecurity Status Document (BSD) have been updated with legislative requirements of the Biosecurity Act 2015.

2022-54: Plant Exports Management System – Updates to records of hay and straw inspections

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including Master Consolidators, vessel masters, freight forwarders, treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers and principal agents—associated with shipping or importing goods that require increased intervention during the 2022-23 BMSB risk season.

Department verification (Article 7 products)

 

If you manufacture, process or store food products listed below (Article 7 products), a verification from the department is required to facilitate registration with China.

For Article 7 products, the department has a limited role to verify information and make verifications for China Import Food Enterprise Registration (CIFER) registration. Any applications submitted through the CIFER system are assessed by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) at their discretion.
