36-2022: Launch of Biosecurity Portal in QLD, NT and SA – you can now book your import inspections online

Who does this notice affect?

Importers and customs brokers wishing to book and manage import inspections in Qld, NT and SA can book inspections via a new Biosecurity Portal from 16 March 2022.

The Biosecurity Portal is being rolled out in phases and it will be available to other regions in coming months. Industry notices will advise ahead of time when the Portal will be launched for NSW/ACT, WA and Vic.

All clients attempting to contact the department via phone.

Information

The department is currently experiencing intermittent telephony connectivity issues. As a result, clients may experience difficulty contacting the department via telephone.

Our third-party telephony provider is currently investigating the issue as a priority. The department apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Who does this notice affect?

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned maintenance period.

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned maintenance period.

There are 2 registration options available:

  • Option 1: Approved Arrangements, Customs Brokers, Importers, Manned depots*.
  • Option 2: Freight Forwarders, clients without an ABN, and clients with a low volume of import inspection requests# and Biosecurity Industry Participants using the Approved Arrangement Management Product (AAMP).

Each option supports access to different Portal features:

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is relevant to importers of bovine material from Indonesia, including bovine fluids and tissues for laboratory purposes and dairy products for human consumption.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture Water and the Environment (the department) has received notification that cases of LSD have been detected in Indonesia.
