Australian Government response to the Environment and Communications Inquiry report: National Landcare Program 2014 to 2023

On 26 June 2014 the Senate referred the matter of the National Landcare Program’s performance, effectiveness and future to the Environment and Communications References Committee (the committee) for inquiry and report.

Who does this notice affect?

All clients and industry stakeholders involved in imports may be affected by the current weather event across Queensland.

What has changed?

Several weather warnings have been issued across Queensland and New South Wales.

Many parts of Queensland and Northern New South Wales have been impacted by the severe weather conditions and flooding of the last few days, and weather reports suggest this will continue into this week.

29-2022: Measures to prevent the introduction of lumpy skin disease into Australia

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is relevant to all vessel masters and shipping agents who represent international commercial and non-commercial vessels for the purposes of Australian biosecurity clearance.

What has changed?

In 2019 lumpy skin disease was reported for the first time in Bangladesh, China and India. In 2020 there were reports of it in Taiwan, Nepal, Vietnam, Bhutan, Hong Kong and Myanmar. In 2021, outbreaks occurred in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.

Who does this notice affect?

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned outage.

Information

To support scheduled maintenance, the Maritime Arrivals Reporting System (MARS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Friday 25 February to 00:30 Saturday 26 February 2022 (AEDT). 

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

All clients attempting to submit permit applications and access invoices using the Department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned outage.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned outage.

All importers and customs brokers who will be required to lodge imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment during this planned outage.
