What has changed?

The CAM Program is a significant 4-year transformation program which will enable data on all international arriving aircraft to be digitised and supported by automated tools. Biosecurity officers and industry will be provided with a contemporary, digital platform to provide efficient and consistent risk management.

250-2021: Ehrlichiosis in dogs intended for import to Australia

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is for all pet transport companies and importers of dogs to Australia.

What has changed?

Ehrlichiosis is a disease that affects dogs and is caused by a bacteria called Ehrlichia canis (E. canis). The disease is spread through infected ticks. The brown dog tick, which is present in Australia, is the main carrier of the disease.

This notice is of interest to all vessel masters and shipping agents who represent international commercial and non-commercial vessels for the purposes of Australian biosecurity clearance.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) will commence its annual heightened vessel surveillance window for managing the risks posed by Asian Gypsy Moth (AGM) on vessels from 1 January 2022.
