The second WA RFA Annual Meeting of Officials took place on 9 February 2021. The meeting was attended by officials from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment; the WA Government Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA); and the WA Forest Products Commission (FPC).

Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods shipped between 1 September 2020 that arrive in Australian territory by 31 May 2021 inclusive).

All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled infrastructure maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 16:00 to 23:59 Sunday 23 May 2021 (AEST).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry of the in-transit cold treatment (ITCT) certification requirements for the export of citrus to Japan in 2021.

Summary of changes and key points

Exporters, shipping companies, freight forwarders and plant export Authorised Officers (AOs) must consider the following when exporting ITCT citrus consignments to Japan

The Supporting Agricultural Showmen and Women program helps eligible travelling show businesses to meet operational costs, such as showground rental fees and guild/association membership fees, to enable them to continue to support agricultural shows across Australia now and into the future.
