101-2020 – Amendment to 94-2020 – Current list of countries able to meet Australia’s interim import conditions for uncooked prawns from 1 July 2020

Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to importers of uncooked prawns and associated industry participants and retailers.

What has changed?

From 1 July 2020, all uncooked prawns imported for human consumption must be deveined (removal of the digestive tract that remains along the dorsal ridge of each prawn to at least the last shell segment).

Supporting Agricultural Shows and Field Days

The Australian Government provided $52.9 million for the Supporting Agricultural Shows and Field Days Program.

This grants program provided operational support for agricultural shows and field days that were forced to cancel their events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible agricultural show societies and agricultural field day organisers received a one-off payment to reimburse eligible expenses for cancelled shows and field day events.

To date, over 700 shows and field days have been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Who does this notice affect?

All clients attempting to submit access invoices using the Department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system during this planned maintenance period.

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned outage.

All clients who will be required to make an online payment during this planned outage period.

Who does this notice affect?

Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including vessel masters, freight forwarders, treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers, principle agents and master consolidators—associated with importing goods that require increased intervention during the  2020-21 BMSB risk season.

97-2020 – Extended: temporary changes to import certificate requirements for imported animals, biological and animal-based goods commodities

Who does this notice affect?

Importers of animals, biological and animal-based goods.

This temporary change relates to the import of goods where there is currently a reliance on original paper health certificates (HCs). It does not apply to imports of goods where exporting countries already provide original HCs in electronic format.

Background

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the movement of airfreight and courier mail in multiple countries.
