Who does this notice affect?

This notice is of interest to importers (and their customs brokers) of fresh citrus fruits from Israel.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture has recently completed a review of cold treatment schedules used to mitigate the biosecurity risks associated with fruit flies in imported horticultural fresh produce. The purpose of the review was to ensure that the cold treatment schedules are supported by the latest available science.

Importers and brokers of fresh lemons and limes being imported from the United States of America.

What has changed?

From 12 November 2019, the department is transitioning fresh lemons and limes imported from the United States from the Compliance-Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS) dashboard, to the CBIS Q-ruler to achieve full system automation.

What has changed?

The Department of Agriculture (the department) will commence its annual heightened surveillance regime for managing the risks posed by Burnt Pine Longicorn (BPL) beetles on vessels departing from New Zealand from midnight, 24:00 hours (NZST) on 6 November 2019.
