Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has reviewed its arrangements for clearing imported cargo when the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (Customs) Integrated Cargo System (ICS) or the key the department import systems are not available. After an extensive consultation period with industry we have developed the following documents to provide information and guidance during contingency arrangements:
Broker Reports is an online application that allows commercial entities (brokers and importers) to access reports of their current business and financial position with regards to AIMS entries.

You do not need to register an account in BICON if you only want to search and browse biosecurity import conditions, imported food safety requirements, or view alerts and changes.

The Introduction to BICON eLearning module is estimated to take 15 minutes to complete. This module is suitable for the general public and anyone interested in import-related industries.
Products requiring an import permit are subject to charges as outlined on the department's website.

In determining whether or not to grant an import permit under the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Act), the Director of Biosecurity or their delegate may have regard to whether the applicant is a fit and proper person to manage the biosecurity risk associated with the goods to be covered by the import permit.
The importation of some commodities is, by law, subject to the biosecurity conditions outlined in the departments Biosecurity Import Conditions (BICON) system. Some commodities are only allowed into Australia upon the granting of an import permit from the department.
The Biosecurity Portal allows the Australian importing industry to conveniently book and manage inspection bookings in a self-serve online location at any time.
The Portal currently supports all approved arrangements, brokers, importers, as well as freight forwarders, and individuals who do not have an ABN.
