Pest Profile: Hendra virus

This year commemorates 30 years since Hendra virus was identified in horses in Australia. To date, the virus has only been reported in horses in Queensland and New South Wales and never outside of Australia.

2024-63: Horticulture – Citrus packhouse applications for exports to protocol markets in 2025

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise the citrus industry that applications are now open for the accreditation of packhouses to export to protocol markets for the 2025 season, as well as for the accreditation of packhouses under the packhouse grower supplier model.

214-2024: Self-Assessed Clearances (SAC) cost recovery charge commenced 1 October 2024

Who does this notice affect?

All customs brokers, importers, self-reporting importers, freight forwarders of goods AUD $1,000 or less in value.

What has changed?

The Self-Assessed Clearances (SAC) cost recovery charge has commenced. All SACs lodged in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) from 1 October that subsequently arrive in Australia, will be liable for the $0.36 charge.

The entity that lodges the SAC in the ICS will be liable to pay the charge, which will be remitted to the department quarterly in arrears.
