Market drivers and barriers to new agvet chemicals

In December 2018, the department engaged Deloitte Access Economics to research the Australian agvet chemical market.

Deloitte's brief was to:

  • examine all the drivers and barriers affecting the introduction of new agvet chemicals to Australia and identify the ones with the greatest effect on access to chemicals
  • if possible, suggest new ways for the Australian Government to improve access to new agvet chemicals, without weakening the protection of human and animal health, the environment and Australia’s international trade interests.

Deloitte presented its final report to the department on 5 September 2019.

The report will contribute to the review of the agvet chemical regulatory framework.
