Detailed response
The detailed response to the Rapid Evaluation was issued by the government on 4 November 2024.
The detailed response to the Rapid Evaluation provides a comprehensive response to all recommendations made in the Rapid Evaluation. The detailed response builds on the preliminary government response to the Rapid Evaluation that was released on 17 April 2024.
The detailed response also considers the recommendations made in earlier reports, including the Strategic Review and the Independent Review.
The detailed response outlines a pathway for the government’s reform agenda for the APVMA and Australia’s agvet chemicals regulatory system.

Key highlights September 2025 to March 2026
DAFF and the APVMA have implemented a series of reforms to address the recommendations since the release of the Detailed response to the final report on future structure and governance arrangements for the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority on 4 November 2024.
The APVMA’s Regulatory Posture Statement 2026–30 was also published in this reporting period.
The department continues to prioritise work towards a sustainable funding model for the APVMA as a key enabling reform.
