Detailed response to the Rapid Evaluation of the APVMA’s structure and governance and other reviews

There have been several reviews of the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and agricultural and veterinary (agvet) chemicals system in recent years:

  • Final Report on Future Structure and Governance Arrangements for the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (Rapid Evaluation)
  • Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority Strategic Review Report (Strategic Review)
  • Final Report of the Independent Review of the Pesticides and Veterinary medicines Regulatory System in Australia (Independent Review)

Detailed response

The detailed response to the Rapid Evaluation was issued by the government on 4 November 2024.

The detailed response to the Rapid Evaluation provides a comprehensive response to all recommendations made in the Rapid Evaluation. The detailed response builds on the preliminary government response to the Rapid Evaluation that was released on 17 April 2024.

The detailed response also considers the recommendations made in earlier reports, including the Strategic Review and the Independent Review.

The detailed response outlines a pathway for the government’s reform agenda for the APVMA and Australia’s agvet chemicals regulatory system.
