Climate Services for Agriculture

Farmers and their advisors need local climate predictions to better plan for future climate variability. That’s why the Future Drought Fund is investing in the Climate Services for Agriculture (CSA) program.

Delivered by the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO, the program gives farmers better climate information through tools like My Climate View.

My Climate View

My Climate View gives farmers and farm advisors future climate projections for specific commodities and at a local scale right across Australia.

0:01 Your location.

0:03 Your commodity.

0:04 Your climate.

0:06 No matter where you are across Australia, preparing for the future of your farming enterprise

0:11 is critical.

0:13 That's why we've developed My Climate View.

0:17 It's a free digital product designed to help Australian farmers understand what the future

0:23 climate might mean for their location.

0:26 My Climate View provides farmers and their advisers with past climate data, seasonal

0:31 forecasts and future climate projections at a 5-square-kilometre resolution right across Australia.

0:40 Climate information is tailored to meet the needs of a range of agricultural commodities from

0:45 meat to grains to horticulture and many more.

0:50 This means that farmers can easily assess how climate factors that matter to their business

0:56 could change into the future.

0:59 For example, a wheat producer can see how the timing and intensity of seasonal rainfall

1:04 in their region might change over time and how that might impact the way they farm.

1:11 We've built this tool by talking with Australian farmers.

1:16 Their valuable feedback has helped improve My Climate View, which will help Australian

1:21 farmers and communities prepare for the future.

1:25 Start using My Climate View for your farm planning.

1:29 My Climate View is developed by the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO as part of the Climate

1:35 Services for Agriculture program, which is funded by the Australian Government's

1:40 Future Drought Fund.

1:42 For more information about My Climate View and the Climate Services for Agriculture program,

1:47 search 'Climate Services for Agriculture' on the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries

1:52 and Forestry website.
