Attention
All users of the Tracking Animal Certification for Export (TRACE) system.
Purpose
This notice is to advise the Live Animal Export industry that access to TRACE will transition to the Export Service on 17 September 2025. During the transition TRACE will be unavailable until we notify you it is complete.
We will reach out directly to those exporters affected on the day, to provide further instructions around business continuity.
Once TRACE is transitioned, you must access it via the Export Service. The current TRACE link will no longer work.
Key points
From transition, all exporters and their staff must access TRACE via the Export Service. They must have an Export Service account set up that is correctly linked to their business. It is strongly recommended that you act now to ensure continued access once the transition occurs. Follow the steps below to prepare your business for the transition.
Instructions
To create an Export Service account for your business, find out who is a Principal Authority or Authorisation Administrator in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM). They are often the owner or director. For more information, go to RAM ask your finance department, or read our Frequently Asked Questions.
Steps for the Principal Authority or Authorisation Administrator:
- Set up myID by downloading the myID app and following the steps to check or upgrade your identity strength to ‘Strong’.
- Log into RAM, select link your business, and follow the steps to link your myID and ABN. When your export business or businesses show a status of ‘active’ you can leave RAM.
If you have any problems completing these steps you can call the RAM support line on 1300 287 539. This support line is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
- Go to the Export Service and create an account using your myID. Then add a business that is linked in RAM.
- Invite others to act for your business: Select your business and choose ‘Access Overview’ to invite people to act for your business in the Export Service (e.g. others who use TRACE to manage consignments). Use their individual business email address if they have one and assign them a role based on the tasks and information they need to access.
For invited staff:
The Export Service is primarily accessible via myID, however users can also use an email sign-in option with limited access. Set up an Export Service account using myID or email sign-in and accept your invitation within 7 days of receiving it.
While there are many benefits to using myID, such as streamlined verification across multiple platforms and increased security, every IT system can have outages. To ensure your business continuity and the ability to lodge and amend notices of intention to export, we recommend you also create an email sign-in, for if myID is ever unavailable.
For all users
We recommend using myID, and advise adding an email sign-in as a backup.
This will let you sign in if myID isn't working or you don't have your mobile phone with you.
