Attention
All users of the Tracking Animal Certification for Export (TRACE) system.
Purpose
This notice is to advise the live animal export industry that TRACE was taken offline on 16 October 2025.
While a resolution is being implemented, business continuity arrangements have been put in place to ensure industry continues to operate on schedule. There will be no additional financial cost to industry during this time.
Key points
TRACE was taken offline on 16 October 2025. A registered user alerted the department that they had gained access to parts of the system that should not have been accessible to them. No personal or sensitive information was accessible, and no external breach has occurred.
While a resolution is being implemented, we have enacted the following business continuity processes for livestock exporters. Further information for reproductive exporters will be provided on an ad-hoc basis, and if required.
Variations to Notices of Intent (NOI) to export:
For consignments in TRACE that are scheduled to depart on or before Wednesday 22 October 2025, those affected exporters have already been provided NOI manual variation forms. If you are one of these exporters and have not received a manual NOI amendment form, please email livestockexp@aff.gov.au to request one.
If required, for consignments in TRACE that are scheduled for 23 October 2025 and beyond, those affected exporters will be provided NOI manual variation forms on a rolling basis, and with sufficient time for approval processes to be undertaken.
Instructions for completing and processing the NOI manual variation forms will be sent via email to each exporter with the forms attached. Team members from the Live Animal Export Branch will also be available to answer questions and discuss individual circumstances.
Please note, requests for variations will be prioritised to ensure no consignments are delayed.
Applications for new NOIs:
Team members from the Live Animal Export Branch will distribute paper-based NOI application forms (for both sea and air consignments) to every livestock exporter shortly. Please save these forms and use them to apply for new livestock NOIs, via livestockexp@aff.gov.au.
