2026-01: Export cost recovery implementation statement 2026–27 consultation

6 February 2026

Species: All

Countries: All

Attention

  • All industry producers, exporters, accredited veterinarians and supply chain participants.

Purpose

This Export Advice Notice (EAN) is to advise that the 2026-27 exports cost recovery implementation statement (CRIS), opened for public consultation on 29 January 2026.

Key points

  • On 29 January 2026, the draft 2026-27 export CRIS opened for public consultation on our Have Your Say page.
  • You are invited to provide feedback on the 2026-27 CRIS from 29 January 2026. The survey will close at 5 pm AEDT 6 March 2026.
  • You can register to attend in person meetings on the 2026-27 CRIS. Details about the meetings are available on the Have Your Say page.
  • A summary of feedback and our responses will be included in the final 2026-27 CRIS.
  • The 2026-27 CRIS will be implemented in July 2026.

Background

  • Cost recovery implementation statements provide information on how the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry implements cost recovery in export arrangements.
  • As announced last year the Australian Government will introduce new cost recovery arrangements for export regulatory functions from 1 July 2026 to ensure export regulatory services are sustainably funded and continue to meet export demands.
  • Export arrangements have received $138 million in supplementation measures from government since 2023-24 and will continue to receive $49 million in supplementation from government through the transition to full cost recovery in 2029-30.
  • We are seeking feedback on the structure of fees and charges, the rationale for charging, how proposed fees may impact businesses, and if there are improvements we can make to CRIS consultation.
