2023-03: Additional honey and apiculture markets transitioning to NEXDOC

08 February 2023

Purpose

This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to advise industry that export certification for honey and apiculture products for additional markets (Maldives, Jordan and Pakistan) is transitioning to the Next Export Documentation (NEXDOC) System.

Manual certificate applications are no longer available for honey and apiculture products that are exported to markets transitioned to NEXDOC.

Summary of changes and key points

  • From 8 February 2023, exporters must use NEXDOC to apply for EX188B certification for edible honey and bee products to Maldives, Jordan and Pakistan.
  • NEXDOC is the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry’s (the department) web-based export documentation system for Australian exporters.
  • Exporters who export honey or apiculture products to these markets, need to register for NEXDOC, through the online services portal. Exporters can access more information on how to register as an exporter by visiting the NEXDOC help page.

Background

  • The department is moving honey and apiculture products to NEXDOC, the web-based export documentation system in phases.
  • The department updates its webpage as NEXDOC certification is made available to more markets. The Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor) will also be updated to reflect the additional markets that have transitioned to NEXDOC.
  • The honey and apiculture products available in NEXDOC Honey include edible honey products (e.g. honey and honeycomb) and inedible bee products (e.g. apiculture products such as beeswax foundation and raw material derived from bees such royal jelly, bee pollen and propolis).
  • Certification for processed foods, where honey and bee products are only minor ingredients in the finished product, is not available in NEXDOC Honey.
  • Certification for edible vitamins and supplements and therapeutic goods containing honey and bee product ingredients is not available in NEXDOC Honey.
  • Certification for certain processed foods, edible vitamins and supplements or therapeutic goods may be made available in NEXDOC Honey for specific markets in the future, if a trading partner classifies these products as ‘honey’ and requires the department to issue honey certification.
  • To find out more on NEXDOC visit the NEXDOC webpage.
