413-2025: NOW LIVE - new ‘System notifications’ webpage for biosecurity import system outage notices

Who does this notice affect?

All Biosecurity Industry Participants subscribed to receive Import Industry Advice Notice notifications from the department.

All Biosecurity Industry Participants who utilise / engage with the departments import-related IT systems for the management of imported cargo, conveyances and inspection booking services, including those who subscribe to receive email notifications for departmental Import Industry Advice Notices.

What has changed?

The new ‘System notifications’ webpage for biosecurity import system outage notices is now live and can be found on the department’s website – www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity-trade/import/online-services/system-notifications 

From today, Friday 12 December 2025, biosecurity import system outage notices will only be published on the department’s new dedicated ‘Systems notifications’ webpage (link above). These notices are no longer being published as Import Industry Advice Notifications (IIANs) on the department’s existing IIAN webpages.

Email subscription notification services associated with biosecurity import system outages will also change. Details as follows:

  • Until Saturday 31 January 2026 (inclusive), Biosecurity Industry Participants who are subscribed to receive email notifications for ‘IIANs’ will continue to receive notifications for biosecurity import system outages. These subscribers will also receive IIAN email notifications for other broader importing topics as normal.
  • From Sunday 01 February 2026, Biosecurity Industry Participants who are subscribed to receive email notifications for IIANs will no longer receive these relating to biosecurity import system outage notifications. These emails will only be sent to subscribers of ‘Import system notifications’. IIAN subscribers will still continue to receive IIAN email notifications for other broader importing topics as normal.

How do I subscribe to receive email notifications relating to biosecurity import system outages

Please complete the email notification subscription process via the department’s website – under the ‘Import News’ Category, select ‘Import system notifications’.
