Access the Portal securely using your myID, that has been linked, via RAM, to the business you wish to do importing business for.

Using myID, linked to your business’s Australian business number (ABN) in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), provides single access to a range of government online services for business matters, instead of needing multiple usernames and passwords.

Business owners

To access government online services, like the Biosecurity Portal, on behalf of a business, you need to link your myID to the Australian business number (ABN) in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

Only a business owner (the principal authority) of a business can link their business to and authorise access for others into the Biosecurity Portal via RAM.

Step 1: Set up your myID for the first time

If you already have a myID go to Step 2.

Download myID from the app store and follow the prompts.

App store

Google Play

Step 2: Link myID to Relationship Access Manager (RAM)

By linking the business to their myID via RAM, the principal authority of the business can set up authorisations for others to work on behalf of the business.

To find out if a business is linked to RAM:

  • sign in to RAM and select the Manage Authorisations page
  • look for the business name under Entity name
  • if you don’t see your business, your ABN isn’t linked to your myID.

To link a business:

  • sign in to RAM
  • Select Link my business – you’ll be redirected to the ATO to find your business or businesses.
  • Add your personal postal or residential address (as held by the ATO).
  • Select Continue.
  • Select the business or businesses you want to link.
  • Select Continue – if you can’t find your business, check and update your ABR details.
  • Enter an email address (this can be different to the one used to set up your digital identity).
  • Select Send email to receive a verification code.
  • Enter the verification code.
  • Select Verify and Continue.
  • View the summary of the selected business or businesses and select the checkbox to declare you understand and accept.
  • Select Submit.
  • A message will display confirming your business is successfully linked.
  • Select Continue.

Step 3: Set up authorisations

Principal authorities should complete this step only if you want to authorise employees or third parties to access the Portal on behalf of your business.

  • Sign in to RAM.
  • Select Manage authorisations
  • Select Business name
  • Select Add new user and complete:
    • Representative type - Standard user or Basic user
    • Representative details - Your staff member's name, and work email address (not business email)
    • Authorisation details – Do you want the representative to be an authorisation administrator?
    • Select Yes for nominating Administrator
    • Select No for a normal user.
    • Do you want the representative to be a Machine credential administrator? Select No
    • Start date: Select today's date using calendar tool
    • End date: Tick No end date
    • Agency access - Initially this will be set to None for all agencies.
    • Scroll down to DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FORESTRY, and select Full.
    • Summary - Review the above details.
    • Tick I understand and accept this declaration if correct.
    • Select Submit.
    • Customise access - Do not select.

Step 4: Notify your employee or third party

Send this message to your employee or third party:

You now have authorised access to the Biosecurity Portal.
This means you will be able to sign into the Portal and act on behalf of the business.
Use the Portal to manage online importing inspections for your business.

Follow these instructions to complete your access registration.

Employee or third-party access

Employees or third parties representing a business can access the Biosecurity Portal to act on behalf the business.

As an employee or third-party you will need a myID to access the Portal and an authorisation code. The authorisation code is generated from RAM when you sign-in using your myID.
What you’ll need:

  • myID
  • Authorisation code generated by RAM.

Step 1: Set up your myID for the first time

If you already have a myID go to Step 2

Download myID from the app store and follow the prompts.

App store

Google Play

Step 2: Acquire the RAM access code

Upon receiving an authorisation code via email accept or decline the request within 7 days by:

  • Signing into RAM with your myID
  • Inserting the RAM access code.

You now have authenticated access into the Biosecurity Portal.

Option 2

Freight Forwarders, clients without an ABN, and clients with a low volume of import inspection requests, and Biosecurity Industry Participants using the Approved Arrangement Management Product (AAMP)

Authentication using email and password only

The Biosecurity Portal can be accessed without myID authentication, using an email and password only. This Option only provides access to a subset of Portal features.

This simple way to register is primarily for freight forwarders, clients with a low volume of import inspection requests, or clients who do not have an ABN, or Biosecurity Industry Participants using the Approved Arrangement Management Product (AAMP).

What you’ll need:

  • Valid email address.

Step 1: Navigate to the Biosecurity Portal

  • Select Other user
  • Select Sign up, at bottom of screen.

Step 2: Verify email address

  • Enter your preferred email address
  • Select Send verification code
  • Enter the verification code emailed to your preferred email address.

Step 3: Create account

  • Complete all mandatory fields
  • Create a password with:
    • 14-16 characters
    • An uppercase letter
    • A number
    • A symbol
  • Select Create account.

Step 4: Select my profile

  • Sign into the Biosecurity Portal.
  • Create a Profile. This must be completed to lodge a request for inspection.
