Comparison of Australian plague locust and Caledia captiva adults
Australian Plague Locust - Chortoicetes terminifera
- forewings of Caledia are unpatterned
- hind wings of Caledia do not have a distinct spot as seen in the plague locust
- hind leg tibia of Caledia is brown and not red like the plague locust
Caledia is wide ranging but more likely to be encountered in wetter coastal areas where plague locusts are rare.
