Developing industry and supporting local growers – Northern Territory Farmers Association

Through grant funding made available by the Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper, the Northern Territory Farmers Association produced a series of online communication products to raise awareness of biosecurity threats and to promote practical measures to mitigate risks.

Presented by local Northern Territory agricultural industry biosecurity champions, the videos, digital posters and flyers are available in English, Khmer and Vietnamese.

These products aim to:

  • strengthen relationships and connections between Northern Territory growers, stakeholders, industry and government agencies with individual landholders, business owners and growers who may not identify with mainstream groups and organisations
  • increase awareness of on-farm practices that minimise biosecurity risks, for example, best management practices and traffic management plans
  • increase awareness of the negative consequences to individual growers and relevant sectors through poor production and biosecurity practices
  • increase awareness of the negative consequences to relevant industries arising from biosecurity incidents, such as lost markets and increased production costs
  • increase the adoption of on-farm measures that establish and maintain effective biosecurity within target sectors
  • minimise the risk of market loss, increased production costs and reduced productivity arising from poor biosecurity practice
  • provide assistance in how to ensure compliance with applicable biosecurity regulations.

Biosecurity. It’s everyone’s business.
