84-2024: T1 Livestock Transfer Facility at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport is now a biosecurity entry point for live horses

Who does this notice affect?

First point of entry (FPOE) operators, airlines aircraft operators, importers, brokers and others.

What has changed?

The Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport FPOE determination has been amended to permit ‘live horses’. The determination no longer restricts permission to horses arriving from New Zealand and New Caledonia. The amendment also designates ‘T1 Livestock Transfer Facility’ as a Biosecurity Entry Point (BEP) for baggage and live horses, permitting these classes of goods to be unloaded at this location.

What has changed?

Crookwell and Riverina industry field trip

Over 20 staff from the department, including some from the Plant Protection Office went on a three-day industry field tour of Crookwell and the Riverina facilitated both by AUSVEG, the industry representative body for vegetable and potato growers

Nudging farmers and citizens on biosecurity

Staff from the Plant Protection and Environmental Biosecurity offices travelled to Brisbane in April to take part in a subject matter expert panel for the Nudgeathon at the Queensland University of Technology.
