All clients required to use the department’s Biosecurity Import Conditions System (BICON) during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled infrastructure maintenance, BICON users may experience several intermittent outages from 16:00 to 23:59 Sunday 28 May 2023 (AEST).

Action

Users are advised to frequently save any in-progress permit applications during this maintenance period.

Approved arrangements operators, customs brokers, importers, manned depots, and freight forwarders who are required to book and manage requests for import inspections through the Biosecurity Portal.

Information

Due to scheduled system maintenance, the Biosecurity Portal will be unavailable from 22:00 to 22:30 Friday 26 May 2023 (AEST).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

119-2023: Scheduled Outage: Thursday 25 May to Friday 26 May 2023 – MARS

Who does this notice affect?

All shipping agents or operators of maritime conveyances who will be required to report pre-arrival information during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to scheduled maintenance, the Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System (MARS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Thursday 25 May to 02:00 Friday 26 May 2023 (AEST).

Action

Clients are advised to await the completion of this maintenance period before attempting to access this service.

Biosecurity enforcement officers have the powers and ability to issue all 55 of the infringement notices under the Infringement Notice Scheme (INS). They can issue infringement notices to importers and import industry participants across all import pathways. They can also issue infringement notices to manage biosecurity risks relating to ships and aircraft and biosecurity risks onshore.

A list of the 55 infringement notices that can be issued by biosecurity enforcement officers for contraventions of the Biosecurity Act 2015 are set out in the table below.
