Who does this notice affect?

Importers and customs brokers who import prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans.

What has changed?

The department is revising the inspection requirements for new, rural bound consignments of prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans.

Consignments of new, rural bound prefabricated office, accommodation units and caravans will now be subject to a rural tailgate inspection, in lieu of a full unpack inspection.

In late 2020, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) conducted an inquiry into bargaining power imbalances in supply chains for perishable agricultural goods (PAG) in Australia. The subsequent Perishable Agricultural Goods Inquiry Report recommended that the government and industries explore measures to foster price transparency to increase competition in those industries.

What has changed?

The department has made enhancements to the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) and the Cargo Workload Management System (CWMS).

All importers of plants, cats and/or dogs who will be required to use the Post Entry Biosecurity System during this planned maintenance period.

Information

Due to urgent system maintenance, the Post Entry Biosecurity System (PEBS) will be unavailable from 23:00 Monday 27 September to 00:30 Tuesday 28 September 2021 (AEST).   

Action

Clients are advised to avoid using this system for the duration of the maintenance period.
