What is the Farm Data Portal?

The Farm Data Portal is an interactive tool containing data and outputs from ABARES surveys of broadacre and dairy farms, all in the one location.

You can use the tool to see historical results from ABARES surveys, forecasts of farm financial performance, modelled results from the ABARES farmpredict model, and agricultural productivity estimates.

The tool is hard to use on my phone. Is there a mobile version?

We’re working to add a more mobile browser friendly view for phone and tablet users. In the meantime, the portal is best viewed through a desktop class browser.

The tool feels slow or doesn’t load for me. Why is that?

The data tool works best on a modern desktop class browser – e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple Safari.

Can I download the data?

We’re working to add the capacity for users to download selected data directly from the tool. To download all of the underlying data, use the data download links at the bottom of the page.

I found an error with the data tool. What should I do?

We’re working hard to fix errors and implement user feedback during this phase of the tool. If you notice an issue that requires attention or would like to provide feedback, please contact info.ABARES@aff.gov.au with ‘Farm Data Portal’ in the email subject line.

I can’t find the data I want here. Where can I find other ABARES data?

The Farm Data Portal contains data from ABARES surveys of broadacre and dairy farms, and outputs from those surveys. For other ABARES data, see:

  • Other ABARES farm surveys
  • Commodities and trade data, including price and volume forecasts
  • All other ABARES data

The following workbooks containing underlying data from the Data Portal. Given their size and structure, they are recommended for experienced users only.
