Training through the Carbon Farming Outreach Program

This Knowledge Hub is one part of the Carbon Farming Outreach Program. Information and training resources provided through this Hub can be used as a starting point for understanding emissions management.

The Carbon Farming Outreach Program also provides farmers and their advisers with access to free training to learn how to reduce emissions on their land. The training is creating a network of trusted advisers who work directly with farmers and land managers to offer practical support.

As part of the first phase of the Carbon Farming Outreach Program, the Australian Government has funded 5 organisations to deliver this training across the country until 2026:

  • ABC Foundation
  • Dairy Australia
  • The Victorian Government Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action
  • Grower Group Alliance
  • Kangaroo Island Landscape Board.

To find out what’s happening in your local area, see the ‘Get involved’ tab.

You can also access the free Carbon Farming Outreach Program training package, which provides additional information to help farmers and land managers make decisions about reducing emissions and storing carbon. This is a temporary resource that will be replaced by the Knowledge Hub as it expands.

As part of the second phase of the Carbon Farming Outreach Program, further training for trusted advisers of farmers and land managers will be available through the Zero Net Emissions Agriculture Cooperative Research Centre through to 2028. This will help strengthen the adviser network so farmers can get reliable, up-to-date advice to make informed decisions.
