Implementation of the Dairy Import Risk Review
The way you import dairy products into Australia is about to change.
The final report on the import risk review for dairy products for human consumption is now complete and the department is working through the implementation of the review.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Biological Imports Program administers Australian biosecurity conditions for the importation of biological products. These include animal or microbial derived products such as foods, therapeutics, laboratory materials, and vaccines.
Fees apply for the import of biological products to Australia. For information about fees and charges visit the Biosecurity cost recovery implementation statements page.
Note: The Biological Imports Program does not manage the following commodities which are administered by the sections below:
- Plant produce – Grains, seeds, nursery stock, fruit & vegetables and plant-based foods (Importing plants and plant products)
- Live animals – including viable reproductive material (Importing live animals and reproductive material)
- Agricultural products – timber, dried fibre articles, herbs, used machinery (Import)
- Inspection and certification of products exported from Australia (Export)
