In March 2025, ABARES was commissioned to conduct an independent review into the relationship between growers and integrated producers in the Australian chicken meat supply chain.
The review was to examine whether there is evidence of market failure within the industry, and if so, potential actions that could be introduced, as applicable.
An interim report was made available for stakeholder review and comment on 25 September 2025, with submissions to that report now closed.
A final report is due to government as soon as practicable.
