From 1 July 2025, the levy rate on meat chickens hatched at a hatchery in Australia will change to 0.406 cents per meat chicken. The change will increase the biosecurity response component by 0.1416 cents per meat chicken.

GST is not applied to Australian Government levies.
The Australian Chicken Meat Federation has requested the change to fund repayment of the industry’s contribution to the national biosecurity emergency response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H7 strains).
