From 1 October 2026, the components of the passionfruit levy and export charge for passionfruit harvested in Australia and exported or sold other than for processing will change. The total levy and export charge rate will remain unchanged.
There is no change to the levy components for passionfruit processed or purchased for processing.
Rates from 1 October 2026

GST does not apply to Australian Government levies and export charges.
For passionfruit packed in cartons (ordinarily 18 litres) and exported or sold other than for processing:
- the marketing component will decrease by 5 cents per carton
- the biosecurity activity component will increase by 2 cents per carton
- the biosecurity response component will increase by 3 cents per carton.
For all other passionfruit exported or sold other than for processing:
- the marketing component will decrease by 5 cents per 8 kilograms
- the biosecurity activity component will increase by 2 cents per 8 kilograms
- the biosecurity response component will increase by 3 cents per 8 kilograms.
Passionfruit Australia Inc requested the change to repay the industry’s contribution to the national biosecurity emergency response to Varroa mite (Varroa destructor), which was underwritten by the Australian Government.
